Makeup Pencils

With all the different types of makeup pencils out there it can get confusing.

You will see a lot of make up which look like pencils, but might not know which does what.

The concealer is a cream which covers up dark circles, spots, blemishes, spider veins, etc. You can apply concealer with fingertips or with a concealer brush. Apply foundation over the concealer. Foundation is a creamy liquid which will give the skin an even tone and color.

Lip make up should usually be in contrast to the face makeup and the color of your dress. Select a lip makeup pencil which matches the color of your lipstick. You could also choose a lip pencil shade which is a bit darker than the lipstick shade.

Eye liners define the eyes and are used around the contours of the eye. Eyeliner in a wood pencil is a powder-based eye pencil, which is usually available in dark matte colors. Wax-based eye pencils contain wax which eases application. They are softer pencils which come in various dark colors and also pale shades like white and beige. Always sharpen your eye pencil before applying to remove any bacteria which have built up.

Since make up pencils and brushes come in direct contact with your sensitive skin, you should take good care to keep them clean. Use the following 5 beauty tips to maintain a high standard:

• Use mild liquid soap to clean makeup brushes. Take some soapy water in the cup of your hand and swish your brushes in your palm till they’re clean. Then rinse, reshape and hang the brushes over the edge of a table so that the air dries them. Avoid soaking them in a sink or wrapping them in a towel to prevent spoiling them.
• Ensure that the makeup pencils you intend to buy are sharp enough. A sharp pencil will will accentuate the areas you want to line , e.g., lips or eyes.
• Apply concealer to the innermost corner of your eye using a concealer brush. Only this small brush can reach this spot which frequently looks dark because it is so recessed. If you don’t have a concealer brush, you can also use your fingertip.
• You should buy brushes with natural bristles and not synthetic bristles if you want to buy good quality make up brushes. Sable is a popular bristle material. Ensure that the bristles are packed tightly and are not loose. Brush the back of your hand using the brush to make sure that it does not lose too many bristles.
• When you use an eyebrow pencil, you should use short diagonal strokes in the direction of hair growth. You should concentrate on the areas which have fewer hairs than those which have even growth. Don’t use your eye liner pencil on your eyebrows. Eye liner pencils are malleable and soft, meant for the delicate eye area. However, eyebrow pencils need to be quite hard to allow you to draw tiny strokes in the areas which have fewer hairs.
