Office makeup should always be light and natural. You don’t want to scare your co-workers or your boss for that matter coming to office with too bold solutions. You should keep within the bounds of what’s acceptable and good taste.
On the other hand do not go to the office without makeup. You can be more presentable with some color and accents than with a pale and plain face. This is especially true if you are going to important meetings and presentations, just keep the tone mild and light.
You have to remember that there is a big difference between office makeup and party makeup. The obvious difference is the time of day; you wear office makeup in the morning and party makeup at night.
To prove this importance, when applying makeup for morning meetings you have to carefully consider that sunlight will point out your entire makeup defects, which on the other hand go unnoticed at night.
So keep your makeup light and subtle. It’s advisable not to use foundation or face cream as this is thick and will be noticeable in the direct sunlight. Focus instead on cleaning and toning your face to minimize the pores. Then apply moisturizer before you start putting on your office makeup.
If you cannot go without a foundation, then make sure to use it sparingly and to apply it in a place where natural light comes in. This would ensure that you have applied it evenly on your face; you don’t want to have an uneven shade of foundation or miss a part of your face.
Try to lighten your foundation by adding some liquid; it will be more translucent and natural. Then apply loose powder all over and accentuate your cheeks with a powder brush.
Highlight your eyes since this is the most important in business communications, but make sure that you are using appropriate shades and color tones. The trick is making your eyes look more expressive and not dominating or aggressive. Your best choice would be brown, dark-grey or dark blue, experiment on the color of your shadows. Put on your eye liner and mascara to finish the look.
For your lips choose any color you like. Nowadays bright-colored lipsticks are common in the work place. Remember to exfoliate your lips with a wet towel to pump up lips temporarily and give you fuller lips. If you want your lipstick to stay longer, apply your lipstick then dab it with a tissue paper then apply it again, this is called staining technique and it lasts longer.
Also do not forget to make your lips younger by pulling in the corners and rounding them and making them full not wider. Then put on some gloss, not glitter to have a bit of light reflection and will give your lips the appearance of moisture.
Finally make sure that your T-zone is matter with powder. Choose and use loose powder but take a compact with you for retouching through out the day.
